Throughout my graduate career at SU, Evelyn has been a bright and shining light. Always there to help or to answer a question, and always with an infectious smile and a friendly laugh. I enjoyed helping out at the United Way fundraisers she coordinated and seeing the joy she took in helping raise money for the less fortunate. Certainly a great loss to the SU Biology community and to all who knew her. My deepest condolences to her family.

Troy, Evan, Craig- that I am stunned and shocked beyond words by the loss you all have received would be the worst understatement I can imagine. Evie always was the one who encouraged me by word and example to improve my nutrition with healthier recipes and cooking styles; many will remain in my personal cookbook. And she was the one who didn't falter in her dedication to her daily trips to the gym to do Pilates or run the wheels off a bike there. We shared MANY memorable times while we worked side-by-side for Biology in BRL at SU, whether we put our heads together for the benefit of The United Way or laughed at our silly Halloween costumes (back when it was a better place to work). I'll always keep some memories for myself, but I will ALWAYS be grateful for the days that she "covered" for me when an MS exacerbation made be blind for a time. She was a truly remarkable woman who knew how to set a goal and not let anything deter her from her mission, and poor Troy, how we would gasp in surprise as she would regale us with her stories, like her solution to remodeling the kitchen (food network's Robert Irvine has nothing on our Evie when it comes to weilding a sledgehammer!) Fondly, fondly I will remember her and hold my private memories dear until I meet her again on the other side. All my love and support for the men in her life that will have to learn how to go on without her guiding light. Prayers for Evie, peace for you all. (And in a private message to Evie, I will always ask for "soise on the side" with my "chopped meat"!) love, Q

I had the honor of working with Evelyn at SU in different ways and over many years. She believed in a quiet excellence that inspired all of us. She contributed to the quality of books, to the caliber of the students, and to the collegiality of the BIO department at large. Her legacy is large and will be enduring.

Evelyn touched all our lives with friendship and joy. Though words cannot express our sorrow we hope you find some comfort in the thoughts we wish to share. Ev is the warmth of the sun on our face, her eyes are the crystal blue sky, she is the vibrant flowers that blossom in spring and the brightest star at nite, we feel her touch in a gentle summer breeze, she is the snowflake that falls quietly from the sky. She is part of all that surrounds us and she will always be part of us . So many share in your loss....Sending you all our thoughts and prayers.
