Helen Jeanette Williamson, age 91, resident of Columbus, died on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House surrounded by family. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Wayne Halloway officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Williamson, daughter of the late Johnnie and Willie Jane Phillips, was born March 5, 1923 in Sale City, Georgia. She attended Evangle Temple where she enjoyed Sunday school. Mrs. Williamson was a member of the VFW women’s axillary, she was also an avid gardener, loved to dance, make quilts, and care for her dogs Scooter and McKenzie.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 21 years, Robert Williamson. She is survived by their three children, Judith Woodhams (Tom), Brenda Simonton (Steve), Richard Williamson (Shilo Sullivan); three grandchildren, Mark Woodhams, Kelly Gardner (Rob), Crystal Simonton; great grandchildren, Allison Gardner, Abigail Gardner, Nate Gardner; sisters, Evelyn Milner, Edna DuBois, Janie Phillips; brother, Lamar Phillips (Martha); nieces, Jacque Murray (Bob), Melinda Kelling (Burt), Suzanne Sanchez (Rick), Cynthia Tabor (Chad Bowles); two great nieces, Missi Murray, Gabriella Sanchez; and great nephew, Grant Sanchez. She is also survived by special friends Clara Jackson, Johnnie Mae Hite, and the caring staff of Columbus Hospice. The rest of the family would like to thank Judy, Tom, and Mark Woodhams for caring for their loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt for the last two years of her life.
