James "Jimmy" R. Arthur, age 52, of Raymond died Saturday, November 28, 2009 in Flowood. Services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Raymond with Dr. Mark Strum, Dr. Tommy Jarrett, Bro. Billy Causey and Dr. Greg Belser officiating. Burial will follow at Raymond City Cemetery with Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, November 30, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Raymond and one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Arthur was born on May 30, 1957 in Jackson, MS. He attended Hinds Community College and was the voice of the Hinds Community College Eagles. He also attended Mississippi State University and was a true bulldog. He graduated from Belhaven College.
Jimmy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Raymond. He was a former deacon and youth and adult Sunday School Teacher. He served 12 years with the Hinds County Fire Service and was a Captain for eight years.
Mr. Arthur was a Sales Representative with Southern Sales Solutions. He loved his family and enjoyed cooking, camping and serving his community as a first responder and fireman.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Vance Arthur of Raymond, a son James Andrew Arthur of Raymond and a daughter, Jennifer Arthur Ard and her husband Josh of Clinton. His mother Billie Lynn Richardson Arthur of Clinton and a brother Bill Arthur of Brandon. One grandson, Riley Ard of Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lamar E. Arthur.
