Jerry Franklin Billings, 55, of 118 Spruce Street, Bassett, died Monday, April 25, 2011 in Winchester, VA. He was born in Martinsville on December 2, 1956 to the late Jack F. Billings and Mary McPeak Aguire. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam conflict. He was employed with Transloading Services Inc., of Roanoke, VA for six years as an Equipment Operator .
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ramona Billings and Linda Billings.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Smith Billings of the home; stepfather, Joseph Warren "Joe" Aguire of Martinsville; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Staff Sergeant Jerry Wayne and Crystal Billings, of Fort Bragg, NC., and Richard and Heather Blankenbaker of Martinsville; two daughters and son-in-laws, Gail and Matthew Spence of Jamestown, NC., and Pamela and Matthew, Sr., Lamb of Standardsville, VA.; ten grandchildren, Jackson Billings, Megan Spence, Kirsten, Aurbrey and Eland Blankenbaker, Matthew Lamb, Jr., Kurt and Madeline Lamb, Gavin Luther, Elijah Hall and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm. Saturday, April 30, 2011 in the chapel of Community Funeral Service of Ridgeway with Dennis Martin and Kelly Ratcliff officiating. Full military honors will be performed in the Community Funeral Service Chapel by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Burial will be in the McPeak Family Cemetery in Carroll County. The family will receive friends one and a half hours prior to services beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Community Funeral Service and other times at the home on Spruce Street, Bassett.
