Obituary Notice
Julia Kathleen (Pinke) Nagel, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Drew's Place of Hillsdale.
She was born November 3, 1925 in Detroit to John and Julia Pinke, and then moved to Ida, MI around the age of 6. She was a 1943 graduate of Ida High School and after graduating she worked for Monroe State Bank. She was an active member in 4H, Glee Club and enjoyed singing in the Church, particularly at weddings.
She married Lester Bernard Nagel, June 14, 1952. The couple moved to Bronson, then to Tekonsha where they called home for most of their 58 years of marriage until Lester's death.
She liked to cook, garden, sew and visit with family and friends. She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and taught religious education there for many years. She was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. She loved singing, doing her daily bible readings, telling stories and most of all spending time with her family.
Julia is survived by sons; Joseph (Sheryl) Nagel of Homer, Marten Nagel and Michael Nagel both of Tekonsha, daughters; Gladys (Dan) Gibbons of Ann Arbor, Mary (Sidney) Shakinis of Muskegon, Ruth (Dennis) DeVos of Casnovia, Rose (Rich) O'Donnell of Mentor, OH, Linda (Alex) Tatar of Marshall, Leslie (Greg) Reagle of Homer, 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Nagel, three children; John Nagel, Joyce Ciotta and Theresa Ann Nagel, who died at birth, and one sister, Rose (Pinke) Nieset.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Putnam's of Tekonsha. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Union City with Reverend Father Dan Doctor officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
