Leo Zinkoski, Jr., 83, of Old Bridge died at home Saturday, June 21, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Born in Scranton, PA he lived in Newark, NJ before moving to Old Bridge over 42 years ago.
Leo was a truck driver with Twin County Grocery in Edison for 38 years before retiring in 1995. He was a Proud US Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Exclusive Fraternity of Honor "The Chosen Few" and a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was member of the 1st Marine Division, Sons of American Legion, American Legion and past commander and life member of the Old Bridge VFW Post #7508. After the Old Bridge post closed, he joined the Spotswood VFW Post #4589.
Leo is predeceased by his devoted wife of 59 years Patricia Ann (Feeney) Zinkoski (2013) and his cherished son Charles Ross Zinkoski (2013). He is survived by his loving children Patricia (and Al) Cerone of Toms River, Tammy (and Donald) Hart of Old Bridge, Bruce Leo Zinkoski of Toms River and Craig Robin (and Fern) Zinkoski of Jackson. Also surviving are 10 adored grandchildren and 9 dear great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend Visitation Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 4-8 pm at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home 3377 Hwy 9 Old Bridge, NJ 08857. Funeral services will take place 10 am Friday, June 27, 2014 at the funeral home followed by burial at Forest Green Park Cemetery Marlboro, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be donated to your local wounded warrior project https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/. Online tributes may be posted to www.hegartyfuneralhome.com

I grew up with "Johnny" and the family. I just learned today of his passing. Truly a sad day. Even though I have lived in California for the last 38 years I still remember being at the house on Southwood Dr. with Johnny and the family. They treated me like I was one of their own. RIP.....you will be missed.
