Lee was a good friend of mine. We met in graduate school at NYU in the mid-1970s and stayed in touch, communicating about art, music, architecture and travel among other topics. I never did get him to San Francisco but we were able to meet up in New Orleans a few times in the last 10 years. On my last visit, we drove around the rebuilding city and visited the art museum. I loved the way he had decorated his house, the lovely swing on the porch, the piano, the gardens and of course his beloved cats. Lee truly loved New Orleans and music, and his generous gift to the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra is a perfect legacy.
