Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m., August 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Benjamin Magnaye as celebrant. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the rosary to be recited at 7:00p.m., Monday, August 11, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel.
Manuela was born in Falfurrias, Texas, to Jose and Maria (Trevino) Guerra September 16, 1928. She married the love of her life, Raymond, on January 19, 1946 and moved to Waco. She received her Associate’s Degree in Business Management from MCC in 1983. She was a seamstress and supervisor for Wolf Mfg. and also worked as a sorter for the post office. Manuela used her seamstress talents to create beautiful clothing and costumes for family and members of the community. At one time she was a costume maker for the Baylor Theater Department. She was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over 50 years. She was a member of the Apostolado, taught CCD classes, baptism classes and was a former member of the choir. Manuela was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond G. Martinez, Sr. and four siblings.
Survivors include children, Dolores Veselka and husband Henry, Norma Moon, Raymond G. Martinez, Jr., Velma Kocian and husband Roger, Librada Kopatz and husband Jack; grandchildren, Heather, Azita, Raymond III, Rachael, Kristy, Kimberley, Aaron, Henry Mark, and Meghan; 10 great- grandchildren; brother, Estanislado “Steve” Guerra and a host of other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Riojas, Jr., Tony Riojas, Albert Anthony Litterio, Raymond G. Martinez, III, Frank Guerra and Benjamin Wenz. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Mark Veselka, Albert D. Litterio, William Cox, Steve Guerra, Brian Baker and Deric Medina.
