Michael D. Markworth, 66, of Sheboygan, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Mike was born July 31, 1947 in Sheboygan to Waldemar and Virginia (Welsch) Markworth.
He attended Sheboygan Grade Schools and was a graduate of Sheboygan South High School, Class of 1965.
Mike served his country in the United States Air Force.
He was employed at Kohler Company for eleven years as well as owning and running Michael's Stump and Tree Removal Service for many years. He then furthered his employment with Riverview Middle School until his retirement in 2003.
On February 22, 1969 Mike Markworth and Sue Voss were united in marriage at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Mike was known for his famous caramel corn and sharing it with relatives, neighbors, friends, doctors, and nurses.
He loved camping, taking family trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and took pride in any hobbies he had going. He especially took pride in his dogs, Chelsea, Isabelle, Mandy, and Taffy and loved working as a Custodian for Plymouth Middle School enjoying the company of the staff, students, and the public.
In addition to his wife, Sue, He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Markworth and Jonathan (Fiancee, Michelle Sargent) Markworth; a daughter, Jamie (Anel) Herdic; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Kayla, Noah, Muhammed, Ajdin, Destiny, Sierra, and Kaitlyn; a brother, David (Robin) Markworth; a sister, Sue (Jerry) Horneck; a sister-in-law, Nancy (Bob) Lauff; and many other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James "Jimmy" Markworth; and a niece, Erin Teunissen.
A time of visitation and support will be held from 4:30pm to 7:30pm on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels and Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 10:00am until the time of service at Oakbrook Community Church. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Oakbrook Community Church. Pastor Mario Ciotola will officiate.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Mike's family extends a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the care and compassion shown to him.
