Robert A. Maggiore, 87, of Lakeland, passed away Tuesday April 29, 2014 at Crouse Hospital. He was born in Syracuse to the late Giovanni and Mary (Capparelli) Maggiore. Robert was an Army Veteran of WWII and worked for many years as an operating engineer at Solvay Iron Works. He was an avid bowler, member of the Moose Club, Orchard Game Club, and a life member of the VFW Post #153 in Baldwinsville. Robert was also a past member of the Lakeside Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Vivian "Rose" Gorski; a son; Robert J. (Geri) Maggiore, of Lakeland, two daughters; Debra (Chuck) Bartlett, of North Syracuse, and Cindy Maggiore, of Lakeland, 5 grandchildren; Carrie (Rob) Mason, Ginger (Dan) Holleran, Robert C. Maggiore, Ashley and Alyssa Bartlett; 5 great-grandchildren; an aunt, Anna Gabriel, and relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 8:45 a.m. Friday May 2, 2014 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland. Family and friends may call Thursday May 1, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave.
