Mrs. Yvonne "Ponzie" Swing Briggs, 74, a resident of Thomasville, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the High Point Regional Cancer Center.
A resident of this area all of her life, Ponzie was born on July 15, 1939 in Davidson County. She especially enjoyed gardening, her flowers, and traveling the country with her husband. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. On October 30, 1957, she married Bobby Gene Briggs. She was preceded in death by her sons, Terry Wayne Briggs and Tommy Dale Briggs.
Surviving is her husband, Bobby G. Briggs of the home; daughter, Tonya DeVon Briggs of High Point; two grandchildren, Terry Wayne Briggs Jr. and Tiffany Nicole Briggs; and three great grandchildren, Terry Wayne "Trip" Briggs III, Terra Evonne Briggs, and Tianna Grace Harrelson.
A celebration of Ponzie's life will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in the chapel of Sechrest Funeral Service, 120 Trindale Road, Archdale with Dwayne Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

So sorry to hear of your loss I met this family back in the late 60's when I baby sat Tonya Terry and Tommy. Ponzie introduced me to country music and we would dance and sing. She will be greatly missed the lord has called another angel home. My thoughts and prayers are with you Speedy and the rest of the family.
