Barbara J. Alarcon
Barbara Alarcon was born on July 8, 1940 in Kingston, New York. She and her family eventually moved to California in 1945. She attended Washington Junior High and Long Beach Poly High School where she was a sorority sister of Pi Sigma Phi. She was a student at Cal State University Long Beach as well. She met Armando Alarcon while working at Foster and Kleiser. The two were married in 1962 and began a family, raising two daughters. In 1972, the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, but returned to the Orange County area in 1979.
Barbara enjoyed playing tennis and golf and was also an avid reader. She loved to volunteer her time to such organizations as the Red Cross and New Life Beginnings and was always ready to help those in need.
She loved Grace Community Church of Seal Beach and the fellowship she shared with her brothers and sisters in Christ.
One of her greatest joys in life was her grandson, Quentin, whom she loved dearly and prayed for often.
In 2005, Barbara was diagnosed with cancer. Throughout her illness, her spirit and faith remained strong. After a long battle fought with grace and dignity, Barbara peacefully went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2011. Barbara will be greatly missed by her daughters, Maria Maberto and Michele Carmody; grandson, Quentin Maberto; brother and sister-in-law David and Linda Selbst; and son-in-law, Roger Maberto.
Services will be held Friday, July 1 at 11:00 am at Grace Community Church, 138 8th St., Seal Beach, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Community Church of Seal Beach.

Maria & Michelle,
My prayers go out to you and your family. Your Mother was a childhood neighbor and friend. She was responsible for guiding me into LB Poly and helping me during my youth. I shall always remember her and am so sorry I didn't get in touch with her in our later years. My Condolences and prayer to both of you.
Sincerely,
Chuck Gard, Anaheim, CA

Maria & Michelle,
I have many great memories of your Mom and Dad whenever our families would get to see each other. I remember the first day your Dad introduced us to your Mom back in the 60's and how much I liked her right away. I quickly grew to love her as my "Aunt Barbara" and how much I enjoyed her sense of humor and her kind ways. My prayers go out to you and your family. Love, Art
