Coach, I'll never forget you and what an impact you had on my life as my football coach in 9th grade and as my teacher in Math and Science classes at Washington Junior High. I wanted to get down to your service but was unable to make it so I could show your family one of my cherished and framed pictures of all of us that played for you. I played right guard both ways and wore #21 jersey (same number as one of my favorite Green Bay Packers and a Heisman Trophy Award Winner under Coach Lloyd Carr by the name of Charles Woodson in 1997 from the University of Michigan Wolverines who defeated #8 Washington State in The Rose Bowl. Woodson was primarily a defensive player at cornerback but saw time as a wide receiver and punt returner.) But most appreciative am I for the times I had one on one talks with you as a teacher and mentor and the hard times i shared but our mutual faith in Our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST lifted me up and helped me to get to be the man I turned out to be and continue to be today as one that can't do enough to help someone out that's passing through "troubled waters". You Sir had a big part in that. Rest Well. William 'Bill' Gamble, Lincoln High School class of 1963.

Mr. Watrud was my math teacher in 7th grade. He made learning math enjoyable. I used it frequently in my nursing career. Thank you Mr. Watrud and God bless you and your family. Dawn Holsen

I was very fortunate to work for Dean at Washington Junior High for 5 years before Dean retired. I truely enjoyed all the time I spent working with Dean and getting to know the family. Dean was such a kind and caring individual. He was also a dedicated educator. Our sympathy goes out to Pat and the rest of the family on the passing of Dean. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
