Irene Frances Richmond, 102, of Union City, passed away May 1, 2012 at Birch Adult Foster Care Home in Leonidas. She was born March 21, 1910 in Battle Creek to Ebbin and Frances (Sturdivant) Schumaker.
Irene was raised in Battle Creek and attended Battle Creek schools. She married Ralph B. Clifford on March 24, 1928 in Crowne Point, Indiana. Irene lived in Battle Creek until Mr. Clifford retired in 1972, when they started spending their winters in Orange City, Florida. He preceded her in death July 20, 1975. On June 23, 1978 she married Carey W. Richmond in Kalamazoo. She lived in Kalamazoo until his death on October 12, 1997. She then moved to Union City to live with her sister.
Irene is survived by her son; Jack L. (Margot) Clifford of Raleigh, NC, a granddaughter; Sheri (Michael) Iannocci of Raleigh, 4 great grandchildren; Matthew (Brooke) Iannocci of Raleigh, Garett Iannocci of Arlington, VA, Jenna Iannocci of Raleigh, Madelynn Iannocci of Raleigh, 2 great great grandchildren; Tatum and Ethan Iannocci, a brother; Richard Schumaker of Battle Creek and a step sister, Margaret Malcuit of Port Huron. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands and 1 sister, Jeanette Fletcher.
A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Union City with Becky Beard officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Birch Adult Foster Care, 30895 King Road, Leonidas, MI 49066
