MoodyFuneral services for Jerry Lee Ables will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, in the worship center of First Baptist Bossier, with Dr. Fred Lowery and Rev. Len Turner officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17, from 4 until 8 p.m. in the worship center of First Baptist Bossier.Jerry was born on December 14, 1946, in Anderson, South Carolina, to Harold and Jeanette Ables. On November 15, 2009, he courageously completed an almost year-long battle with brain cancer.Jerry was a minister at First Baptist Bossier for twenty-four years. If “no man is a failure who has friends,” Jerry Ables was the most successful man who ever lived. He will be remembered for his love of people and his passion for leading people in worship of His Savior. He was a faithful servant to his faithful God.He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially by the love of his life, and wife of forty-one and a half years, Phyllis; his son, Christopher Lee Ables; his daughter Amy Lawson and her husband Kelly; his grandchildren, Blake, Ben, and Anna Lawson; his sister, Joyce Robinson and her husband Joe; his brother, Rick Ables and his wife Zylphia; and his nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank the staff and members of First Baptist Bossier who have been a family and have blessed as more than we can adequately express. They are also grateful to Dr. Anil Nanda; Jerry’s hospice nurse, Carol; and his “angel” Margaret.
