John Blackwell was born April 17, 1935, in Morton, Miss., and passed away Oct. 11, 2012. He was a retired casino pit boss of Sam's Town. He is survived by his mother, Annie Lee Stingley; two sons, Victor and Gregory; three brothers, Earnest, Robert and Charlie; two sisters, Margaret and Dianne; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Powerhouse Church of God in Christ, 1216 W. Adams St.
