John Moody, age 91, a lifelong resident of the Seeley/Cable area, died on Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Golden Living Nursing Home in Stillwater, Minnesota.
John was born on November 12, 1921, in Grandview, Wisconsin to parents Arthur and Emma (Anderson) Moody. John served in the US Army from June 1942- October 1945 and obtained the rank of Sergeant in Co. I 379th Infantry, which took him to the Rhineland, Northern France, and also Central Europe. While serving in Europe, he was awarded the Purple Heart, EAME Service Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. After the war, John returned home and worked for Vortanz Lumber for 30 years.
John is survived by his sister Marilyn Schmoeckel of Stillwater, MN, sister in law Jessie Moody of Hayward, WI, nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents, son Michael John Moody, brothers Winston, Orville, Doug, and sister Bette.
Funeral services for John Moody were held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 11 am, at the First Lutheran Church in Hayward with Pastor Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation was held on Saturday, at the Church, from 10- 11 am. Interment followed at the Riverside Cemetery in Seeley.

John was everyone's friend! He always had a smile and his unforgetable laugh! When we were his neighbor I'd bring him fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookies personally delivered by my daughter, Natalie. He will be missed but not forgotten.

I will miss visiting with Uncle Johnny next time I am in Cable. Like Mom said when I told her of his passing, "he ws a dandy". Our condolences to Marilyn and her family.

So sorry to hear of John's passing, Shirley Tiffany called us. As a Seeley girl, I have very fond memories of John and the "Good 'ol days". We had a good visit last summer when we were vacationing in the Drummond area. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Newman and Betty (Ploof) Benson.
