June Carol Adams, 90, of Old Fort passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at her residence. She was born on December 10, 1920 in Old Fort to the late Daniel Weisinger Adams and Rebecca Pearl Cross Adams.
Ms. Adams was a member of the Old Fort United Methodist Church. She was a lover of animals, and an avid bird watcher. She established the June Carol Adams Preserve in honor of her father and established the Rebecca Pearl Cross Endowment Fund for teachers at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia in honor of her mother.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Virginia "Binkie" Adams; brother, Daniel Weisinger Adams, III; & nephew, Daniel Weisinger Adams, IV.
She is survived by niece, Sheila Rebecca Adams; nephew, Stuart Adams Robinson; great niece, Erin Marie Adams; all of Old Fort.
Services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at Kirksey Funeral Chapel in Old Fort with Rev. Milton Hollifield officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Adams Cemetery in Old Fort.

June deeply touched all of us at Foothills Conservancy and will live on and touch the lives of all who love nature and animals and who depend on the clean waters of the Catawba River through the June Carol Adams Preserve. I am so sorry that we didn't know about her passing in time to attend the memorial service. We will continue to remember and honor her as we steward the lands she so loved.
