ALMAND, Laura Farmer went to be with the Lord on November 30, 2009, at the age of 35, after fighting a long courageous battle with breast cancer. Laura was born in Tampa, Fla. and was a life time resident of Valrico, Fla. She was loved by all that knew her. Laura graduated from Bloomingdale Senior High School in 1992. She was a dancerette, cheerleader, senior class historian and a member of the Kiwanis club. She was selected to be a member of the American Allstar Dance Team, where she performed in two Super Bowls one in Tampa, and one in Minneapolis. Laura attended Florida State University were she was a member of the National Honor Society and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She graduated FSU with a degree in Psychology. Laura was a Guardian Ad Litem while living in Tallahassee. She received her Masters Degree from USF in Varying Exceptionalities in the Education Department. Laura started her career in social work at Tampa Bay Academy, ACTS and The Department of Juvenile Justice. She was a teacher at Dover Exceptional Center. Laura devoted her life to helping abused and handicapped children, which earned her numerous accreditations and awards for exlimplary services. Laura is survived by her devoted loving husband of ten years, Hubert A. Almand IV; the love of her life, her son, Hubert “Quinton” A. Almand V; her parents, Jackie and Nancy Middlebrook Farmer; father-in-law, Hubert A. Almand III (Jeanne); sister, Sharlene Farmer; brothers, Michael and Jerry Farmer; grandmother, Evelyn Sharrer; numerous cousins, nephews, aunts and uncles. A Funeral Service will be held 2PM Friday, December 4, 2009, with visitation one hour prior at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Moffitt Cancer Center, UTC-Found, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, Florida 33612.
