Berlin, NH-Lorraine Marianne (Cadoret) Jeffrey, age 87, passed away in the evening hours of Sunday, November 15, 2009 at her Main Street home surrounded by family.
She was born in Berlin on October 13, 1922, a daughter of the late Joseph Arthur and Jeanne (Plourde) Cadoret-Marcotte. She attended St. Regis Academie, and was a 1941 graduate of Berlin High School. Lorraine was married to Harvey Jeffrey on April 2, 1945.
Lorraine was employed at the Springfield Armory in Springfield, MA during WWII, and later worked at Rose Ouellette's gift shop in Berlin. She had also worked 25 years as a corsetiere for Spencer, Inc. of New Haven, CT. Lorraine also held a license as a real estate agent; having been employed by John Forbes Realty and later by Strachan Real Estate. Lorraine was a lifelong communicant of St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, and was also a communicant of St. Pius X Mission in Errol, where she and her husband would spend their summers on Akers Pond.
Lorraine loved people and her faith in Jesus Christ was an important part of her life. She took pleasure in raising funds for three small Catholic churches in North Country; St. Pius X Mission, in Errol, St. Brendan's in Colebrook and St. Bernard's in Norton, VT.
Lorraine was active in many organizations and societies including the Red Hat Society of Errol and the French Folklore Singing Group. She was an active member of the Third Order of St. Francis, the AVH Ladies Auxiliary, MESH and the local Association for the Blind. In addition, she was a longtime volunteer at the St. Vincent DePaul Healthcare Center. Her efforts had earned the Volunteer of the Year Award several years ago. She will be missed.
Lorraine leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends of whom she was very fond as well as a sister-in-law, Magella Marcotte
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Harvey on January 1, 2002, her sister Germaine Davis and her brother Robert Cadoret and his wife Anne Marie; a step-sister Isabelle Marcotte Lemelin and her husband Joseph and her step brothers: Leo Marcotte, his wife Pauline and Lucien Marcotte.
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 7 to 9 at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street in Berlin using the School Street entrance.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 11 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant Street in Berlin with the Reverend Steve Lepine officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Kieran Cemetery, Hutchins Street in Berlin.
