Melvin Eugene Berry, 82, of Leesville, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Alexandria, La.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2010, 2PM at Castor Baptist Church of Leesville. Ministers will be Rev. Morris Goins and Rev. Ed Baldwin. A full military honors burial ceremony will follow at Castor Baptist Cemetery, Leesville, La., under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville, a dignity memorial provider. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 6PM until 10 PM at Castor Baptist Church, Leesville, La.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bernice Hetrick Berry of Leesville; one sister, Mary Lou Locke of Baton Rouge; four sons, Randy Berry and wife Peggy, Mike Berry and wife Bonita, John Berry and wife Elizabeth, Tim Berry and wife Melissa, all of Leesville; 10 grandchildren, Chris, Julie, Sarah, Brian, Stacy, Kelly, Susie, Melissa, Jessica and John Ross and 16 great grandchildren. Melvin was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lela Hutson Berry and Marvin R. Berry; one brother, Donald Berry, one sister, Patsy Case and an infant son, Donald Berry.
Melvin proudly served in the United States Army until he retired. After his retirement, he worked as a self employed contractor.
