STONE, Barbara Reeve

Barbara Reeve Stone peacefully passed away on July 6, 2014. She was born April 15, 1929 in Casper, Wyoming to Dr. Roscoe and Iva Reeve. She had a twin brother (Bryce Reeve) and older sister (Joyce Bonelli Mills). She met her husband, Forrest, at the University of Wyoming and married in 1953. She taught home economics at the local high school for a few years. Forrest worked for Peter Kiewit Sons' Company, managing highway construction projects in Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah.

Forrest and Barbara shared 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Barbara was an active member and leader of her many organizations: P.E.O. Sisterhood (60+ year member), Church Women United (honored as a "Valiant Woman"), Delta Delta Delta Sorority (60+ year member), College Club, Saint Paul's Episcopal Church (Guild, Newcomers, and devoted parishioner), Resident Council at Millcreek/Pacifica (serving as President) and more. She loved bridge, college football, and entertaining her many friends. She lived a life of grace and dignity.

She is survived by her three daughters: Linda (Wayne) Tyler, Salt Lake City; Sara (Douglass) Chatfield, Elk Grove, CA, and Cindy (Bob) Richards, Shanghai, China; and by four grandchildren: Katee and Ben Tyler, and Marshall and Ellen Richards.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 11:00 am at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. Memorial gifts may be made in her honor to Saint Paul's Episcopal, 261 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84102 or to another charity. I will miss you so much, Barbara. I will always remember the great times we had in PEO, organizing your closet, changing out your seasonal wardrobe, and wrapping all those fun little presents for
your Millcreek friends. I love you !

Barbara was one of those special people who meant so much to so many. She was the first to welcome me to St. Paul's and introduce me to others by insisting I stay for coffee hour. I can't tell you how many people said the same thing when we were sharing tears at coffee hour this past Sunday after just learning of her death. She was a vibrant member of our parish and someone we will always remember fondly and miss terribly.
