Obituary Notice

Ben Merritt II, 48, of Eastpointe, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek. He was born March 15, 1964 in Dearborn, MI to Ben Merritt, Jr. and Marilyn R. Bare. He spent most of his life in the Eastpointe area. Ben and Kelly M. Wilber were married on September 16, 2000 in Coldwater, Michigan.
Ben liked playing his guitar and chess. He also enjoyed shopping of all kinds and he was an avid Red Wings fan. Spending time with his family was most important to Ben. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him..
Ben is survived by his wife, Kelly (nee-Wilber) Merritt, sons; Roman Merritt, Zachary Good, father and mother-in-law; Butch & Vi Wilber, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, brother-in-law; Benjy (Erin) Wilber and sister-in-law; Brandy Wilber. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, infant son; Benjamin Christian Merritt III and nephew; Lincoln Wilber.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater. Funeral services celebrating Ben Merritt's life will be Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Church of Christ located at 43 S. Hudson Street, Coldwater with Pastor Gene Cobb officiating. Military Honors will follow at West Girard Cemetery, Girard Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ or Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice. You may leave an online tribute by visiting www.putnamfuneralhome.com
