GONZALES – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Carroll Glenn Clampitt, age 70, at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at Hope Haven Cemetery in Gonzales with military honors by the Fort Polk U.S. Army Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Tuesday morning and remain open until the service time at 10:00 am.
A native of Abilene, Texas and resident of Gonzales, Mr. Clampitt passed away at 12:50 am on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Clampitt was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Local 198. He loved Nascar and fishing. Mr. Clampitt was known by many as the “Mayor” of Graveyard Island. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Nita Lambert Clampitt; daughter, Robbin Denny and spouse Kevin; son, Mark Nobles and spouse Barbara; step-son, Hewitt Gaudin, Jr. and spouse Mary; grandchildren, Justin Phillips, Brennon Denny; step-grandson, Joseph Gaudin; step-granddaughters, Alicia Mire, Lainee Williams, Kari Gaudin; step great-grandchildren, Cotton Mire, Townes Mire, Beau Williams and brother-in-law, Bill Reese.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Sybil Clampitt and sister, Alzena Reese.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Denny, Justin Phillips, Brennon Denny, Mark Nobles, Hewitt Gaudin, Jr., Joseph Gaudin, Gordon Ray Brignac and Mike Hebert. Glen Brignac and Johnny Berthelot will serve as honorary pallbearers.
