Columbus, GA- Charles Joseph Reynolds, 72, of Columbus, died on May 7, 2014. The family would like to invite friends to celebrate Mr. Reynolds life at a Memorial Service at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 5:00 PM, followed by a Visitation in the Mill Room. He was born in Columbus, GA on February 10, 1942 to Martha Powers Reynolds and Allen Clyde Reynolds. After graduating from Jordan High School in 1960 where he played on the football team, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in CA, MI and Seville, Spain. He attended Manatee College in Bradenton, FL.
Charles spent over 40 years working in the Textile Machinery Industry as Vice President of Sales for Morton Machine Works, and Sales Manager for International Dyeing and Equipment as well as Gaston County Dyeing Machine Company in NC. After his retirement he returned to manufacturing as a representative for Gentry Machine Works of Columbus.
Charles was an active member of St Peter UMC and was a member of Jesus Is Lord Sunday School Class. He was a former Administrative Board Member of St Andrew UMC (now St. Peter) and was also active in Explorers, serving as a Scout Leader, and coached Pop Warner football and baseball.
He was an immensely dedicated and proud family man who used his playful sense of humor, mischievous teasing and infectious laugh to touch and warm the hearts of everyone around him. His warmth was irresistible drawing in family, friends and strangers alike.
Charles was predeceased by his mother and father, and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Smith Reynolds, his brother Mike Reynolds (Dana), his children, Jodi Deane (Tenney), Steve Reynolds (Gina), Marti Reynolds-Marano and his beloved grandchildren, Taylor Deane, Ty Deane of Columbia, SC, Amanda Gonzales (Jeremy) of Savannah, GA, Ashley Reynolds, Reagan Reynolds, Amy Marano, Will Marano and Meri Claire Marano.
