Edward E. Schievelbein of Seguin, Texas was born on March 1, 1923 and passed away on February 27, 2010 at the age of 86 years 11 months and 26 days.

Edward is a WWII US Army Veteran, and one of the last of the "Greatest Generation". He fought in many different battles during the war, one of which was the "Battle of the Bulge".

Edward is survived by five children, Ellen Schmidt of Seguin, Ruth A. Tatom & Robert Perez of Seguin, Glenn Schievelbein of Seguin, Albert A. Schievelbein of Arlington, TX and Larry Schievelbein of Flushing, NY; 14 grandchildren, Debra Ratterree, John Wesley Schmidt, Laura Davis, Karen Sue Bohannan, Heather Peers, Stacy Tatom, James Edward Schievelbein, Scot Schievelbein, Jennifer Schievelbein, Jennifer Mulvaney, Brock Anthony Schievelbein, Misty Schievelbein, Justin Schievelbein and Lisa Schievelbein; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Louise Schievelbein; parents, Edward Schievelbein and Elise Heiser Schievelbein; son, Edward Schievelbein, Jr.; daughter, Faye Jubela; grandson, Duane Paul Schievelbein; twin sister, Anita Baldwin and their siblings, Edgar Schievelbein, Robert Schievelbein, Alfred Schievelbein, Albert Schievelbein, Clara Koepp, Lonie Schievelbein, Elsie Koepp, Ervin Engelhardt, Rudy Engelhardt, Malitta Muehl, Linda Krueger and Venona Albrecht.

A visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Home on Monday, March 1, 2010 from 5-9PM. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in the Goetz Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, Hwy 46, New Braunfels, TX.

Pallbearers for Mr. Schievelbein will be James Schievelbein, Scot Schievelbein, Brock Schievelbein, Mark Davis, Jr., Jacob Davis, Ryan Mulvaney, Mark Davis, Sr. and Robert Schievelbein. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Lee Schievelbein, Edgar Schievelbein, Lee Roy Schievelbein, Wes Schmidt, Justin Schievelbein, John Schmidt, Robert Perez, Rick Ratterree.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to the American Legion Post 245 in Seguin, TX. You may sign an online register book at www.goetzfuneral.com

A most sincere condolences for your loss. I remember him mostly from the Schievelbein Reunions. He was always playing cards with Pete, Clarence, and Wilford if I remember correctly. I would also like to thank him for his Service to this country.

Not so sure exactly how we come in together; my dad is Arthur Schievelbein, twin brother to Hugo Schievelbein of Seguin. They were born Sept. 16, 1924 and I am almost certain they may be cousins to Edward. I see some resemblences in the photos, especially the eyes. It is always sad to hear of our "great ones" departing, especially our war veterans. My sympathy goes out to those of you who mourn. May God Bless,
