Elena and I have been members of the Collegiate Chorale for many years... she more than I, but we developed a friendship and deep respect for one another. Elena was one of the most elegant women I have ever known—kind, thoughtful, warm, intelligent, passionate about her music. I am so sorry for her passing. But her memory is with us forever and her example of elegance and grace will be a model for life. Thank you, dear Elena. Miss you already.

Andy: Elena leaves a legacy of elegance.

Turning just now to page A19 of yesterday's NY Times, I saw 6 photos. My eyes were drawn to one in particular: an especially elegant looking person, I mused. Then I read "LOWENFELD" and the confirmation "beloved wife of Andreas."

It's been 37 years since I enjoyed working with you when you chaired Matthew Bender's advisory board of law professors. You always struck me as insightful, engaging and kind. Though I'm learning of Elena at this saddest time, I must say, Andy, that I felt uplifted as I read on: joy that you deservedly had, for these years, a wife who gave the world so much beauty, in all senses. Elena was a lovely, gentle, dignified, and classy woman whom I had the pleasure to know as a member of the Chorale for many years. I thought about her frequently since she left the Chorale and will truly miss her. My condolences to her family and friends.

Elena was a dear friend since 1967. We sat next to each other in the alto section of the Collegiate Chorale for 43 years. She was beautiful, a fine musician with a lovely voice. She immersed herself in all that New York City offered, opera, museums and concerts. I will miss her.
