Ms. Elizabeth Dudley Baird, 82, of Augusta, Georgia died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Westover Memorial Park with The Rev. George Muir officiating.
Ms. Baird was the daughter of the late Bessie Mary Dudley and George C. Baird of Augusta. She attended Converse College of Spartanburg, SC and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia where she was a member and served as Treasurer of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was a past member of the Junior League of Augusta. She moved to Atlanta in 1971 and retired from Merrill Lynch. She later served as the Executive Assistant to the CEO of Robinson-Humphrey Co., Inc until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Augusta and an active volunteer for 8 years at The Cathedral Book Store at St. Philip Cathedral in Atlanta until her return to Augusta in 2008.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Dudley and Soleta Baird of Augusta, George and Mimi Baird of Atlanta, and was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Jane Landon Baird of Atlanta. Additional family members include her nieces and nephews, Dudley Baird, Jr., John N. Baird, Lewis and Eleanor Baird, William Baird, Sol Baird, George Baird III and his wife Dr. Erica Obey, Ann Dudley Baird and Nick Khan, David and Nahla Baird, Marie and David Landis; one great niece, Claire Elizabeth Baird; and five great nephews, David James Landis, Nolan, Daniel, Shaw and Hugh Baird.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Soleta and Dudley Baird.
The family expressed their gratitude to Trinity Hospice and also Ms. Baird's caregivers, Jill Curd, Kiara Bell, Daphne Harmon, Deborah Hartfield, Diane Brower and Cynthia Banks for the exemplary compassion, love and care shown to her and the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bessie Mary Baird Memorial Gardens at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 605 Reynolds Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901.
