Georgia Dempsey, age 76, of Walbridge, formerly of Northwood, climbed the stairway to Heaven on Friday, August 12, 2011. She was born the oldest of 4 daughters on July 9, 1935, in Pikeville, KY. to Flain and Alpha (Bowling) Ratliff. On April 26, 1952, Georgia married the love of her life Roy Dempsey Jr. She retired from St. Charles-Mercy Hospital in 1989 after 16 yrs. of service in the dietary department. She was a member of Rose of Sharon Old Regular Baptist Church in South Rockwood, MI. In her spare time Georgia enjoyed gardening and spending time with her "Babies".

She is survived by her 5 children: Roger (Sandy), Keith (Deb), Betty (Don) Blackledge, Wanda (Russ) Warnke, and Mary Dempsey, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and sisters: Etta Moore and Jetta Grant; brothers and sisters in law, cousins, nieces, nephews; faithful canine companion, Baby as well as many extended family. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Roy, infant sister; Wanda and daughter-in-law; Charlene Dempsey.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 4-9 P.M. and Monday from 2-9 P.M. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home 701 N. Main St. Walbridge (419-666-3121) where evening church services will be conducted on both Sunday and Monday from 6:30-7:30pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 in the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Those planning an expression in Georgia's name are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Rose of Sharon Church. The family extends a special thanks to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Georgia's nurse Sherry and aide Danielle. Thoughts and prayers to the family may be made online at www.witzlershankfh.com.
