John "Jack" Woodruff Auster entered into heaven on Saturday, January 14, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosemary Springer Auster of 70 years of marriage. Loving father of Marilyn A. Lawson (Richard) and Sharon A. Adams (Robert). Proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his best friend, a chocolate Lab named, Tasha. Son of the late Eileen Tickell Auster and Frank Auster, Sr. Preceded in death were his sister Eileen A. Junker and his brothers Frank, Jr., Walter and Albert Auster. "Jack" is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Age 88, a native of New Orleans, LA and a lifelong resident of Jefferson, LA. "Jack" retired after 43 years of service to the Times Picayune as a Pressman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr. Metairie. Visitation from 11:00 am until mass time. In lieu of flowers, donations to PAWS, 2631 N. Causeway, Mandeville, LA 70471 or Animal Rescue of New Orleans, 1219 Coliseum St., New Orleans, LA 70130. Our Prayers are with yall , We are gonna miss Jack. He was truely a sweet and funny man. We looked forward every morning to see him at Dots Diner on Labarre Rd. He always enjoyed reading his newspaper and talking to us about his wonderful family . Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
