JOHN J. ("J.J.") CANGELOSI on Monday, May 6, 2013. Beloved son of Joseph C. Cangelosi and the late Jeannette B. Cangelosi. Brother of Kathleen C. Seamster (Brian) and the late Marian Cangelosi. Uncle of Brandy S. Johnston (Michael), Jeffrey Seamster (Erin) and Emily Seamster. Great-uncle of Josephine Johnston and Abigail Seamster.

John was the owner/operator of Pelican Pest Control which he established in 1988. He was an award winning weight lifter who made many life long friends at the gym. During the Vietnam War John served on the S.S. Sea Pioneer, a Merchant Marine vessel, delivering fuel to U.S. forces in Vietnam.

John attended Cor Jesu High School and Chalmette High. After earning his G.E.D. he enrolled in a course of pest control at Delgado Community College. In elementary school he played clarinet in the school band. He enjoyed learning magic tricks and performing shows for family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to the Memorial Service at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home on Thursday May 30th at 1pm. Visitation will begin at 11am and continue until service time.

I knew you as Cangi. We shared our love of magic. Your dad showed us how to shoot a falling stone. We were best friends at OLPS and mourned the loss of your little sister. I´m sorry that we lost touch. I was out of the country when you passed and only just learned you are gone. I´ll see you soon.

JJ was a great friend and mentor that helped me as a skinny 124lb 23 yr old at the old Village Square gym in Chalmette. He took the time to help me and nurtured me in bodybuilding many nights opening up the gym and training with me many times as late as 10 pm at nite as I worked all day and went to school. JJ and I had a special bond funny as it seems we for some strange reason picked up the names Big Sleaze and Lil Sleaze which he gave me a weight belt engraved with that name. I can look back to so many great times with JJ and now at 53 I feel a great loss because he was more than just a friend. Not everyone understood JJ and as well he didn't take to very many people and would let you know if he didn't like you. That's one of the biggest thing ill miss being his phone calls to talk with me about someone that rubbed him the wrong way and how he had to let it roll off his shoulder because he knew he could squash them if he'd let it get to him. JJ I miss our talks and I miss the great times we had together and I'm so very sorry to see you go.... But you are one person that will never be forgotten or fade away! Because you showed me bodybuilding as a life style, today I am a personal trainer and this is my life. Thank you for being part of my life and being my big brother. Please save me a seat at the Big Gym in the Heavens!

To John's family, I am so very sorry for your loss. JJ was so very witty and I can't help but to smile now at one of his clever pranks. I will always remember how bright and interesting he could be.
