Kenneth Daryl Miller, 88, of Covina passed away peacefully May 16, 2014 at the Citrus Valley Hospice in West Covina. Born April 30, 1926 in San Bernardino, California, the family moved to the South American country of Peru when Ken was four years old. Later the family would relocate again, this time to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Ken would meet his high school sweetheart, Monty.
After serving as a U.S. Navy radio man in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, Ken returned to Argentina to marry Monty and they moved to California. Ken attended Whittier College and obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from USC. In 1955 the family settled in Covina; Ken and a partner opened S&M Pharmacy which remained open nearly 40 years. Ken was very active in the community and was a member of the South Hills Kiwanis Club for over 50 years, serving as its President in 1963.
Ken was preceded to his eternal rest last year by his wife, Monty. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Ronald and Leslie Miller, Vivian and Richard Mays, Steven and Kathleen Miller; two grandsons, five granddaughters, three great-grandsons, two great granddaughters, one great-great-grandson, one sister-in-law, one niece and two nephews.
Ken will be missed by all who had the great pleasure of knowing him. The family acknowledges and thanks all of Ken's friends who were such a big part of his life.
Tuesday, May 27, 2014 a viewing at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. will be held at Custer Christiansen Mortuary, located at 124 South Citrus Avenue in Covina. Internment will follow at Oakdale Memorial Park Mortuary, 1401 South Grand Avenue in Glendora.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Citrus Valley Hospice.

I am so sorry that I was not feeling well enough to attend the services for Ken. I would have liked to have been there to honor and show respect for a man I came to know through South Hills Kiwanis. He was a dedicated family man. He will be missed by many.
