The Nichols family has played a very special place in our hearts for many years. We love all of you and are praying for your family. Your father was a very special man and he had a special sense of humor that can never be replaced but you will always remember that. He is at peace now and your hearts are full of the loss but relief knowing he is with the Lord. You will always look back and remember all that he has given each and everyone of you with the love that he wanted you all to remember. You all are very special just like he was and he knew that. Our thoughts are with you always and our love also. May you take each other and hold each other. We love you and pray that all of you can find it in your hearts to remember all of the love and laughter that he wanted you to have after his passing. You are very giving and caring people just like your father wanted you to be and your parents did instill that into you as their legacy, just as every parent tries to. The love was and always will be there as they have wanted. Love you alot....

Shirley and family,
I had the privilege of having Robert Nichols as my teacher and my principal at Glenwood Elementary School. I had the utmost of respect for him as a teacher and as an administrator. He always seemed to lead by example. He enjoyed teaching and was a role model for his students, demonstrating his values for high standards, hard work, and striving for achievement and success. Along with his mantra of having high expectations for his students, he was able to demonstrate compassion, equity and the ability to find humor in the simplest of things in life. I still recall the twinkle in his eye when he was telling a joke or laughing with someone.

I truly believe that he had a positive influence on the careers and lives of the many students he interacted with. I value the lessons he taught me.

My deepest sympathy goes to his family.

I met Mr. Nichols during the staff and family get togethers when he hired my dad to teach 6th grade. Then when my dad became a principal, I went to Glenwood. My dad told me if I ever got in trouble he would know about it right away. Well once I had to go sit in the hall and of course Nr. Nichols came around the corner. I had a look of panic and Mr. Nichols just winked at me and went on his way. I never heard one word about it!

I pray for God to comfort you in your loss.

Thank you, Mr. Nichols, for being the mentor and guide for me as I began my 35 years of teaching in the Rossford Schools. I treasure fondly the memories of the two years I spent under your structured wisdom and guidance while I taught at Glenwood School. You were my "Dad" away from home ~ and yes, that was both good and bad, you know what I mean! Those two years working with and for you helped me the rest of my teaching career, and I will always be forever grateful to you for that. May God shine his light upon you and be able to keep up with your sense of humor! God Bless!

Carolyn

I have so many memories of Uncle Bob, I don't even know where to begin. I remember the first time I saw a picture of him in his Coast Guard uniform and thought it was so cool I knew somebody who was fighting the Axis powers on a boat. I remember how, as the oldest of 4, his 2 brothers and my Mom all looked up to him and respected him, but not while playing cards. Summer visits to Perrysburg in "corn country" were a favorite and of course the softball games in the school yard across the street from Grandpa and Grandma's. But possibly my most favorite memory was when he told me how he had invited the pastor of the church he and Shirley attended when visiting his Mom to visit my Mom when she was in the hospital and losing her battle with cancer. How he told me with such joy that my Mom accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. I will be eternally grateful to Uncle Bob for that act of love in directing the pastor to my Mom's bedside that day and I can't wait to tell him so when I see him again in Glory.

I am so deeply saddened & yet find joy in where Mr. Nichols is now fully healed & fully restored. I also am a former Lime City/Glenwood student & will NEVER forget his kindness. I was blessed to see him several more times over the years at the library & he loved playing his U/M keychain to my OSU ears! Heavens gain is indeed our loss.

Our entire family wishes to thank all those that have taken the time to remember dad. I was especially touched by the submission sent by a former student and his PERFECT description of his experiences with my father. All of these entries have touched our hearts........honorable, yes......That last day you worked so hard........but your peace came when you were lifted up to heaven. Our hearts are heavy.......but are assured that your final destination is glorious. Rest peacefully dad!

Dear Nichols family,
Mr. Nichols was my principal at Glenwood School and I remember him fondly. Had not seen him in years then he came to Giant Eagle's Get Go gas station and remembered him right away. He was having trouble with his Advantage card not working. I asked him if the card he handed me was the one he was trying to use and he said yes it was. I told him that the card was for the library. He said that it was funny because his Advantage card didn't work at the library either. We had a good laugh about that. I will keep your family in my prayers and thoughts. God bless and keep you in your time of need.

Mr. Nichols was the Glenwood School Principal when I attended grades 1-6 there. He was someone who my friends and I respected, because of his genuineness and caring attitude. When he disciplined you, it was done in a way that let you know it was about the behavior and not your innate worth as a child. He was a truly great educator..

I know the sadness you are experiencing at this time. As long as I have known you, I know that you are a true believer in our Father God. I know you know what your dad is doing and he may have left his home here on earth, but he is now truly home and we will all meet again someday. Your dad was a good man. I enjoyed his company. Funny man with his jokes. I will treasure that always. Love Rob
