Trinidad (Trini) Barragan Acosta, 87, passed on Sunday, July 14, 2013. She was a lifetime resident of El Paso, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Wilfrido and Maria Barragan, and her son, Frank Daniel Acosta. She is survived by husband, Frank G. Acosta; brother, Guillermo R. Barragan; son, John D. Acosta; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jean and Miguel A. Gallegos; her godsons, Pedro and Salvador Velasco; and her grandchildren, Vivian J. and Issac M. Gallegos. Trini was blessed with a long and fruitful life. She worked at the El Paso Herald Post as their librarian and column writer. Trini also volunteered effortlessly with countless community organizations throughout El Paso including AARP, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), ProAction, Project Meds, Foster Grandparent Program, and Rio Grand Council of Governors. Pallbearers: Vivian J. Gallegos, John D. Acosta, Issac M. Gallegos, Pedro Velasco, Salvador Velasco, and Miguel A. Gallegos. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Harding Orr McDaniel Funeral Home, 320 Montana Ave., from 5 to 9 pm, Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be on Friday, July 19, 2013, at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1118 Mesa St. at 9:15 am. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
