GOUGH, William Preston, Jr., (Bill), of Richmond, VA, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at the Henrico Health & Rehab Center where he was lovingly adored by special teams of nurses, aides, and physical therapists from HHC and Gentiva Hospice. He was predeceased by his wife of over 60 years, Mary Green and grandson William Ray Gough. Bill was born in Richmond, VA on September 7, 1927, to the late William P. Gough and Doris Miller Gough. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He is survived by his loving children, Linda Gough Royal (Jay) and Kenneth Ray Gough; his wonderful sister, Jane Lloyd; his grandchildren, Jenifer, Bonny (Emile), Stephanie (Brian), and Jason; his great-grandchildren, Shay, Olivia, Ethan, Caleb, Brady and Savannah; his best friend, Bobby Converse; Karen Gough; and many other family members and friends. Bill was an avid golfer until he was no longer able to play, but still kept up with the national golf tours. He was a life-long supporter of several military-related charities, a member of the Glendale Ruritan Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Varina American Legion, and Moose Club, and the best Poppa/Bampa ever! A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 5270 Charles City Road, Richmond, VA 23231. The family will gather for a family visitation from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with a public visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to your favorite charity or to one of the many charities supporting our nation’s wounded soldiers and veterans.
