Reverend William Dean Johnson, 73, of Morganton, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, June 15, 2014 at his residence.
Reverend Johnson was born in Roan Mountain, Tennessee to the late Alice Marie Johnson on May, 7, 1941. He was raised by his late grandparents, James and Susan Smith Johnson. He was married to his wife of forty eight years, Nancy Ann Brewer Johnson. Reverend Johnson dedicated many years of service to the Lord by preaching the Gospel as a nondenominational minister of Christian Faith. He was a member of Victory Temple Full Gospel Church in Nebo, North Carolina and was a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans. Reverend Johnson was a super husband and father who loved the Lord and his family. Over the years, he led and guided many hearts to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He left a lasting impression and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his mother, Reverend Johnson was preceded in death by three sisters, Carrie Buck, Janet Dyer, and Dottie DeLough.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Johnson of the home; two sons, Reverend Steven Michael Brewer and wife Stella of Marion, North Carolina and Jerry Wayne Johnson of Weiden, Germany; two daughters, Lisa Diane Johnson Carter and husband Kenneth of Ararat, Virginia and Deanna Kaye Johnson Lynn of the home; a brother in law, Herman DeLough of Hampton, Tennessee; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home in Morganton. Reverend Steven Brewer and Reverend Pete McCombs will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
