Anthony F. Amoroso a lifelong resident of New Rochelle passed away Thursday June 21, 2012. He was 89 years old. Born in New Rochelle on January 6, 1923 he was the son of Pasquale and Marie Amoroso. He was educated in New Rochelle and operated with his brother's their family business "The Samela Press" which was located on Union Ave. He served in the Marine Corps during WWII and was with the Marines for 9 years. Anthony is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Sadie Possidento Amoroso, who he married on August 10, 1947, his daughters Patricia Samela, Susan (Thomas) Hamill, Christine (Anthony) Siller-Venettozzi and his son Matthew (Cindy) Amoroso. He is also survived by his sisters Ann Melillo, Marie Grove and Vera English and his 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and was predeceased by 3 brothers and 7 sisters. Anthony was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and was a member of both the new Rochelle Boys Club and Elks Club. Visiting will be on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a 10:30 a.m. mass on Monday at the Holy Name of Jesus Church, interment to follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory can be made to St. Jude's Hospital or a charity of one's choice.
