Barbara Chandler Sawyer Williams, 84, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on November 15, 2012. She was born June 7, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to parents Everett P. Chandler and Mary Turner, both deceased.
Barbara was a retired independent contractor for a furniture company and she also worked for the Clark County School District as a Teacher's Aide for children with special needs. Barbara attended Ohio State University and was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Columbus, Ohio. She loved her Ohio State University Buckeyes! Barbara was a member of AARP. She loved to travel, especially to San Diego, California and loved to cook specialty dishes of any type! Barbara enjoyed reading mystery novels, magazines and publications. She loved playing her piano. The songs "Misty" and "Here's to Life", as well as other fine Jazz tunes, were very special to her.
In 1996, she married Jacob A. Williams, of Henderson, Nevada and they have been happily married ever since. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother! Barbara was a very caring, loving person to her family and friends. She had an affectionate and wonderful smile that lit up the room.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett P. and Mary Chandler; and son, Randall Hunter Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years Jacob A. Williams; son C. Kevin Smith; granddaughters Jennifer A. Smith and Lauren K. Smith, all of Columbus, Ohio, who called her "Grand B"; great-grandson Samuel Hunter Ross; brother Everett A. Chandler, Esq. Retired, of Cleveland, Ohio and his family; many other family members, including Jacob's children and their spouses Adrienne and Albert Crosley, Kyle Williams, Yvette Williams, Karyne Williams, and Kyle Williams Jr.; as well as numerous close friends, especially Doris and Earl Shorter, and Charlotte and Ralph Pryor. Barbara loved and adored them all.
We would like to thank Dr. Badar Anwar and his associates and staff; CVS Pharmacy @ Anthem; St. Rose Hospital Siena Campus; and Health South Rehab Hospital and their staff for the great service they provided for Barbara.
She is in Heaven now.
Services will be held privately at a later time.
