Passed away peacefully on April 21, 2014 at Leisureworld Richmond Hill at the age of 88. Bernice, beloved wife of the late Norman (1982). Devoted and loving mother of Bill Harman (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Catherine Scott (Thornhill). Dear grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Bernice will be sadly missed by her brothers Art (Dorothy) and Bil (Vera) and by her sister Wendy (Dave). She is predeceased by her sisters Blanche Stuart (2010), Jeanette Deeton (1993) and Joan Robson (1995).
Bernice retired as Supervisor of Accounts Receivable from Loblaw Corporate Headquarters after a 33 year career. She was a member of the Loblaw Quarter Century Club, active volunteer at The Princess Margaret Hospital, a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 345 and was President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Upon her retirement, Bernice traveled abroad, dividing her time between Largo, Florida and Thornhill, Ontario. She enjoyed crime novels, crosswords and Frank Sinatra. She was an avid cook, never failing to impress those fortunate enough to attend her famous Monday night dinners. Above all, Bernice's greatest joy was her family. The light and love that Bernice illuminated will be greatly missed.
Friends may visit at the Jerrett Funeral Home-Vaughan Chapel, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, Ontario (south of Hwy. 7), on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service, officiated by Reverend James Sherman, will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Avenue, Scarborough, ON If you so desire, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Toronto would be appreciated by the family as your expression of sympathy.
