Columbia: Betty Allen, 84, of Columbia, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Humane Society, 121 Humane Ln., Columbia, SC 29209.
Mrs. Allen was born on May 2, 1927 in Nebraska City, NE. She was a daughter of the late Thomas Sammons and Gladys Vaughan Sammons. Mrs. Allen was an active volunteer at Finley House, where she also served as the secretary on their Council. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and she immensely enjoyed tap dancing.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia (Jim) Hall; sons, Robert Scantlin, and Danny Allen; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I only met your Mom once but had talked to her alot on the phone. She would call my Dad (Bill) and let him know how Jerry was doing. After Jerry died she would call just to see how Dad was doing. He enjoyed those calls. I lost Dad in October. What helps me is knowing that Dad is in Heaven at the biggest lake there, fishing. Knowing that he is happy and not hurting helps.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
