After retirement, she and her husband lived in Ft Myers, Florida but she returned to Watertown after her husband's death. While in Florida, she won the volunteer "Point of Light" award for Lee County, which was presented to her by then Governor Jeb Bush on October 23, 2002 in Tallahassee.
