Services for Mrs. Carnell Gordon Blass Bender will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2pm at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Carl White will be officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Bender, 79, of Meridian, passed away Thursday, November 29 at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a retired Registered Nurse at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was also a board member for the hospital as well as being a member of the Rush Hospital Hall of Fame.
She was also a faithful and longtime member of Highland Baptist Church. She will always be remembered as a loving person with a servant's heart. A loving wife, mother, mother in law, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be greatly missed by all that loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Robert Bender, daughter, Pam Blass Pugh (Don), son Randy Blass (Brenda), grandchildren, Cara Pugh Thompson (Mark), Catherine Pugh Swindle (Dan), Joseph Pugh and Ashley Blass. She is also survived by three great grandchildren and brothers, Bill Gordon (Millie), Carlos Gordon (Wanda), and Larry Gordon (special friend Kathy).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Vela Gordon, husband, Jeff H. Blass and brother, Ray Gordon.
Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm Friday and one hour prior to service at Stephens Funeral Home.
