Clarence Monroe "Red" Deaver, Sr, age 81, of Milton, FL went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2014. he was born December 3, 1932 in Marshall, NC to the late Charles Deaver and Mary Kate Sweeten Deaver.
Red retired from the United States Navy having served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict. He was an avid sports fan enjoying his favorite team, the Florida Gators and supporting the local ball teams as well. He loved his weekly card game and gardening. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Virginia Rector Deaver; his daughters, Linda Deaver (John) Atkinson of Newport News, VA, and Ginny Deaver (Marty) Jones of Milton, FL; his sons, Clarence, Jr. (Elyse) Deaver of Dover, Delaware, Jerry (Ruca) Deaver of Oak Harbor, Washington and Gary Deaver of Milton, FL; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and his brother, Charles (Wanda) Deaver of Marshall, NC; and may friends and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2 PM at National Cremation & Burial Society with Mr. Marty Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens with full military honors and the VFW Post 4388. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 PM until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW Post 4833 in memory of Red Deaver, Sr.
National Cremation & Burial Society of Milton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

I enjoyed many Saturday nights with Red and always looked forward to seeing him in the fall on Friday night at our Milton football games. You are all in my prayers. The beautiful part is we know because of our faith that we will all be reunited one day.
