DOROTHY BONNER HUFF WISELEY, age 89 of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013, after a short illness at Hospice Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Sally) Wiseley Elie, and son-in-law, Phillip A. Elie, of Meudon, France; son, Oscar Lee Wiseley, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Shelley Kaplan Wiseley, of Columbus, Georgia; grandchildren, Samuel J. Elie, Benjamin P. Elie, Michael A. Wiseley, Rachel M. Wiseley and Abigail L. Wiseley; brother, James H. Huff and nephew and his wife, Andrew and Rachel Huff of Lander, Wyoming, and numerous cousins. Dot was born August 22, 1923 in Athens, Georgia to Evie Parr Huff and James Howard Huff. She attended Athens High School and the University of Georgia from which she graduated with a B.S. in Home Economics in 1944. She worked as a dietician at a hospital in Washington, D.C. prior to her marriage to Oscar in March, 1945, whom she met while Oscar was in pre-flight school in Athens, Georgia. Following several relocations during Oscar’s active duty with the Navy, Dot and Oscar returned to Athens while Oscar finished his education at the University of Georgia. In 1950, they moved to Atlanta and Dot continued her career working for an insurance agency until the birth of their first child, Sally, in 1953. A long time member of Glenn Memorial Methodist Church, she was active with her women’s circle and Alter Guild. Victoria Estates Garden Club, Druid Hills Country Club, various bridge clubs, Old Crocks and the Brunch Group and her many friends kept Dot busy and engaged. Fall weekends would find Dot and Oscar supporting their beloved Georgia Bulldogs attending both home and away games from the 1950’s until the 2009 season. Loving travel, they toured the US in their motor home and made numerous overseas trips spanning the globe. Graveside services will be held in Oconee Hill Cemetery, Athens, Georgia on Thursday, March 7 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Atlanta or to Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.
