After decades of willing and generous service to others, Eleanor Futch
Blackwood has finally been granted a well-deserved rest. At 64, she went
home to be with her Saviour on Wednesday December 29th.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Michael Blackwood;
mother-in-law, Barbara Blackwood; brother Arthur Futch; her four children and their
spouses; Bethanne and Doug, James and Laura, Rebekah and Dave, and Sarah and Matt, and seven grandchildren.
We love her and miss her.
Eleanor earned her BS in Sociology at Pfeiffer College in 1968. Her
many volunteer services included Youth for Christ, Westover Childrens'
Ministries, Southern Elementary School, and her life as a homemaker.
She was also the indispenable manager of the family business.
Visitation will be held at Westover Church in Greensboro Sunday evening
from 7 to 9 p.m; Memorial Service will be held at Westover Church, Monday at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Greensboro Youth for Christ,
Samaritan's Purse, Westover Mission Fund, or International Justice
Mission.

"Well done good and faithful servant." Eleanor truly was a faithful servant. Enjoyed serving with her in children's ministries at Westover. Mike, we've known the Blackwood family since moving to GSO in 1975. Some of my special memories of Eleanor is when she gave me helpful advice when Michelle was a baby. So wish we could have been there for her memorial service. Our sympathies to you, Bethanne, James, Rebekah, and Sarah and their families. You are all greatly loved by so many. May you know the comfort and peace that only God can give. Bob and Louise Gettman

Dear Mike and Family,
I do not know even how to begin . . . I loved her so much and only got to see her once or twice a year. She was like that -- so dear to everyone. We know in our heads that she is in heaven with Christ, but our hearts ache for her to still be here with us!
I had some surgery last week so will not be able to come to the service, but know we will be praying for you all in the coming days.
Much Love and Prayers, Ann
