Farley Bennett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2012.

Farley Eugene Bennett was born August 22, 1925 to Stella Baker Bennett and Wesley Bennett in Caldwell, ID. and passed away August 19, 2012 after a short illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Virginia, son Ronald (Rose), Gary (Karen), and daughter Laurie (Frank) Swindler. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Dorothy, Stacy, Kayla, Misty and Amy, five great grandchildren; Shaelynne, Branden, Riley, Madison, and Caetano; brothers Gerald (Sharon), Wesley (Sherry), Ken (Karen); and sisters Betty (Kenneth) Sandifer and Ione Speer.
As a young man Farley's high school years were cut short when he entered the US Coast Guard during World War II at the age of 17. Farley was very proud to be awarded his high school diploma in a special ceremony 70 years after his classmates.
Farley will be remembered for his many years of community service beginning as a Little League baseball coach when his sons were young. He continued with the American Legion, VFW, Forty ET Eight, and Eagles. Farley was a long time employee of Shorts Hardware until leaving to begin again as a journeyman electrician with Cummings Electric.
Farley relished his stories and adventures and told them often to anyone who would listen. These Memories usually involved his family, and many friends and acquaintances. He will be missed.
Farley Bennett was preceded in death by his father Wesley, mother Estella, sister Gloria, daughter Marilyn and his favorite traveling buddy Uncle Jimmy Baker.
The family would like to thank the 4th floor staff at Regional Hospital, with a special thank you to the nurses Kelly and Gordon.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association in care of Merritt Funeral Home.
