At the age of 17, Floyd joined the United States Navy. He sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge to the South Pacific, on the USS Heermann. After the end of WWII, he returned and graduated from Norphlet High School, where he was a star running back and scored more touchdowns than any other player in 1947 in Arkansas, including 6 in one game. His future wife was present at that game and considered it a worthy feat.
Floyd began his career at the Lion Oil Refinery. He established Hillview Egg Farm and later founded Henley Feed and Farm Supply. In 1973, the Henley family was named Union County Farm Family of the Year. He entered the Missouri Auction School in 1982 and for over 25 years he held auctions throughout South Arkansas.
His pride and joy was his family of five children and their spouses, who he loved as his own children; he loved the family get-togethers. Floyd was a member of the First Baptist Church of Norphlet.
Preceding him in death are parents; brother, Allen Henley; and two sisters, Doris Flynn, and Imogene Burchfield.

Henley of Conway; four sons, Ric Henley (Karen) of Hot Springs, Waylan Henley (Becky) of Springdale, Richard Henley (Amanda) of Conway, Keldon Henley (Celeste) of Arkadelphia; one daughter, Holly Rambin (Glenn) of Grady, AR; three brothers, Buddy Henley and Coy Henley both of Norphlet, David Henley of Beaumont, TX; one sister, Joann Mauney of Norphlet; one brother-in-law, Earl Bowerman of Lake Oswego, OR; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two expected.
