Funeral services for Gwendolyn Deas Stewart, age 84, will be held Monday, January 7, 2013, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Chapel at 10:00am.Visitation will be held from 9:00 -10:00 am.
She was born in Mobile on December 17, 1928. She was a long-time resident of Mobile County and graduate of Semmes High School.
She died at home in Childersburg, AL on January 2, 2013.
She enjoyed her flowers and plants while being involved with several gardens clubs throughout her life. She loved the many dogs she cared for through the years. Gwendolyn was married to Virgil Glen Geiger, Sr. and they had one child, Virgil Glen Geiger, Jr. After the death of Virgil Glen Geiger, Sr., she was married 54 years to Lawrence Martin Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Martin Stewart, and parents, Ivy C. and Eunice Bellcase Deas.
She is survived by her sons, Virgil Glen Geiger (Susan) and Lawrence Alex Stewart (Robbie) both of Childersburg; four grandchildren, Tony Geiger (Raihana) of San Antonio, TX, Jonathan Geiger, Marty Stewart, and Andrew Stewart all of Childersburg; three great grandchildren; and one brother Ivy Deas, Jr. (Violet) of Semmes, AL.Pallbearers will be Tony Geiger, Jonathan Geiger, Marty Stewart, Andrew Stewart, Toby Williams, Toby Williams, Jr. and Ivy Deas III.
The Rev. Derek Draughon will officiate the service
