James was born and lived all his life in DeQuincy. He was a United States Navy veteran of Vietnam. He was the commander of V.F.W. Post 5802 in DeQuincy. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired electrician with Citgo.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, James Eric Hester of Sulphur, LA and Michael Tanner Hester of DeQuincy, LA; two sisters, Dana Haley of Singer and Lucille Gadman of Amarillo, TX; five grandchildren, Jay Hester, Sara Hester, Tanner Hester, Katrina Hester and Wyatt Hester; four great-grandchildren, Harmony Hester, Aurora Gauthier, John Dolan Hoggatt, and Ryan Nikkole Hoggatt.
His service will be 10:00am Monday, March 17, in Hixson-Snider Funeral Home of DeQuincy. Visitation is from 2:00 - 9:00pm Sunday, March 16 and will resume Monday 8:00am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery.
