Mrs. Jan Elizabeth Ferguson May, 78 passed away Sunday morning, October 28, 2012 at her home. Visitation will be 11:00 am today at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson The Funeral Service will follow at 12 Noon with burial in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
She was the daughter of Eva Dean Howe and Rudolph Preston Ferguson. She was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, reared in Pensacola and was a graduate of Pensacola High School. She attended the University of Florida and was a member of The Fiesta Court of Five Flags. Mrs. May was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson where she played the piano in the five-year-old Sunday School class for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George William May and her parents and step father, Dr. Joseph E. Payne. She is survived by her daughters, Melanie May Cook of Jackson and Mary Dean May of Jackson; son, George William May, Jr. (Cathy) of Jackson; and her grandchildren who fondly knew her as "Gaga", Roger Cook, Jr. (Dawn), (Ella and Brian) of Jackson, TN, Russell Cook (Rachael) of Jackson, TN, Elizabeth Meadows (Read) of Madison, Laura Cate May of Jackson, Caroline May of Jackson, Melanie May of Raleigh, NC and Will May of Jackson. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Dean Geiger of Pensacola.
